Japanese lose most points in the World Ranking this week

Due to the reduction of the points of the Grand Prix of Düsseldorf in 2015 by 50% and 2014 to 0% some small moves occurred in the World Ranking top 10. With the new points of Prague and Warsaw only a few benefit in the top 20 of the World Ranking. The Japanese suffer the most from the brilliant performances of last year's Grand Prix in Germany which are now split. Read more

Gold for Lukas Krpalek icing on the cake in Prague

Czech Republic can be proud of its performance at the European Open in Prague. The Czech athletes claimed two gold medals, silver and bronze, good enough for the victory in the medal table. Sunday’s gold medal for Lukas Krpalek was expected, the 2014 World Champion was the highest seeded athlete of all 270. Krpalek won his category among 28 men. In the final he defeated Niiaz Bilalov from Russia. Read more

Czech Pavel Petrikov wins European Open in Prague

For the first time in his career Pavel Petrikov was able to take the gold medal at his ‘own’ tournament in Prague. With this victory young Petrikov, stepped into the footlight of his father, also Pavel, who won the tournament in the eighties. For Petrikov it is also the first time that he wins a European World Cup since 2009. In the final U60kg the Czech judoka was able to overcome French judoka Cedric Revol U60kg. Read more

Czech crowd see Pavel Petrikov in the final U60kg

The Czech fans are happy with a final for Pavel Petrikov. At the European Open in Prague Petrikov will fight French judoka Cedric Revol U60kg. It’s the first time that Petrikov reached the final in his own homeland. His father won the tournament a few times in the eighties where it the tournament didn’t have the status of a World Cup. Czech Republic wants third gold for Lukas Krpalek

This weekend The Czech Republic is ready to welcome all male athletes for the last stop of the European Opens during the qualifying period for Rio 2016. In Prague over 300 competitors amongst 58 nations will be on show at Arena Sparta in Prague. Among the athletes 2014 World Champion Lukas Krpalek fighting U100kg. Krpalek can defend his title of 2014 and continue his streak, also in 2012 Lukas won the Czech Open. Read more
