Kazach judoka Otgontsetseg Galbadrakh had an amazing year and tops all the rankings. She earned the most prize money in the IJF World Tour, she won the most medals, and most gold medals. Previously she fought for Mongolia but successfully switched to Kazakhstan and won Olympic bronze. Swedish Marcus Nyman and Dutch Guusje Steenhuis are ranked second in most prize money in the World Tour. Read more

In its best international performance ever, USA Judo won two Gold Medals at the World Judo Masters tournament held May 27-29 in Guadalajara, Mexico. Kayla Harrison and Travis Stevens of Team USA Judo both earned Gold medals in Guadalajara, following years of training with Jimmy Pedro, two-time Olympic medalist and coach of the 2016 US Olympic Judo Team. After almost four years of qualification where IJF awarded prize money for the medallists in the IJF Tour Kim Polling was the most successful in the prize tournaments. The Dutch power woman won 56,500 dollar prize money. However she has the turn in 20% to the coach, delivering 45,200 dollar since her first success at the Grand Slam in Paris in 2013. Read more

British Powell qualifies for Rio after Masters bronze

Powell saw off the challenge of British rival, her room-mate for this event and London 2012 silver medallist Gemma Gibbons to effectively claim her place on the Great Britain Judo team that will travel to Brazil for the Olympics this August.
