Japan claims both boys and girls Team World title
Japan won both World Cadet team titles at the Olympic Hall Juan Antonio Samaranch in Sarajevo. On Sunday the stage was set for the team event as 14 girls’ teams and 13 boys’ teams gripped a captive audience. The boys’ final came down to Japan and Russia while the girls’ final came down to Japan and surprise package Croatia who maintained their strong form from the individual competition. Read more

Judo puzzle falls into place for Dutchman Simeon Catharina
We knew Simeon Catharina was a talent, he won 3 titles at European Cups for Cadets this season and took silver at the strong European Cup in Berlin. But at the European Championships he wasn’t awarded with the expected gold based upon his pre-season. In Sarajevo at the World Championships all pieces of this season’s puzzle fell into place with the world title, the second for Holland. Read more

Karla Prodan doubles the success for Croatia
Another tremendous success in the judo history for Croatia. Youngster Karla Prodan has won the World Cadet title in Sarajevo. After Barbara Matic won the World Junior title twice and many other positive performances of the women, now this is another milestone in the history of the young nation. Read more

All Russian World final won by Kemal Kaitov
An all Russian final in the last bout of the individual World Cadet Championships in Sarajevo. Top seed and Cadet European Championships silver medallist Kemal Kaitov of Russia proved himself on the highest stage of his career as he held off Cadet European Championships winner Inal Tasoev (RUS) after 58 seconds in the O90kg final. Akira Sone takes fourth Japanese gold medal
Akira Sone captured the fourth gold medal for Japan at the Cadet Worlds last day in Sarajevo. Japanese heavyweight Akira Sone was a class above the opposition in Sarajevo as she clinched the Cadet World title with five wins and five ippons. Sone overwhelmed Toth Fanni of Hungary in the final and secured top spot after exactly 60 seconds by wazari-awasette-ippon with the second waza-ari coming from a ko-uchi-makikomi. Read more
