Turkish judo celebrated the Olympic title in 2000 for Huseyin Ozkan. Ozkan became headcoach of Judo Turkey. Hulya Senyurt won Olympic bronze in 1992 in Barcelona for Turkish judo. The Judo Federation, Türkiye Judo Federasyonu won 7 World Championships medals, four of them for judo heavyweight Selim Tataroglu. Also medals for Huseyin Ozkan, Nese Sensoy and Bektas Demirel. In 2016 Kayra Sayit won the first European title for women of 8 European judo title in total for Turkish judo. The Grand Prix of Samsun is the biggest event, but Turkey also organised World Team Championships and European Championships in Antalya and Istanbul. New President is Sezer Huysuz.
