Judo in South Africa

South African judo is getting more popular. Judoka Gideon Van Zyl won three African titles. Zack Piontek and Siyabulela Mabulu represented South African at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. Zack Piontek, Gideon van Zyl, Henriette Möller and Patrick Trezise were all famous South African judoka. In 2011 the World Junior Championships were organised in Cape Town by the South African Judo Federation. In 2016 the Commonwealth Championships were held in Port Elizabeth.
