Mbagnick Ndiaye, hailing from Senegal, stands as one of the most experienced and formidable athletes in the international judo scene. Born in 1993, in Dakar, Ndiaye has carved out a remarkable career in the sport, garnering accolades and recognition on both the African and global stages. Nowadays he lives in Paris and looks forward to these special Olympic Games.

Ndiaye's journey into judo began at a young age, at just 8 or 9 years old, when he stepped onto the mats of the National Dojo in Dakar under the guidance of Master Amara Dabo. Despite his tender age, Master Dabo saw potential in Ndiaye's physique and redirected his focus from football to judo, a decision that would shape Ndiaye's future in the sport.

Driven by a passion for judo and its inherent values, Ndiaye honed his skills over the years, eventually making his mark on the international circuit. His dedication and hard work paid off as he represented Senegal with pride and distinction at various prestigious events.

One of the defining moments of Ndiaye's career came at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, where he had the honor of carrying the flag for Senegal at the opening ceremony. Though he faced a challenging bout in the first round against eventual bronze medalist Bashaev, Ndiaye's participation at the Olympics symbolized the culmination of years of dedication and perseverance. He was recognised as athlete of the year in Senegal.

Ndiaye's success extends beyond the Olympic stage, with notable achievements including triumphs at the African Games in Rabat and three African Championships titles in 2019, 2020, and 2023. Additionally, he has amassed an impressive collection of medals at African Championships and Games, showcasing his dominance within the continent.

With a bronze medal at the 2022 Grand Prix of Portugal and numerous gold medals at African Open events from 2017 to 2023, Ndiaye has consistently demonstrated his prowess and skill in the heavyweight category.

Off the mat, Ndiaye is known for his academic achievements, holding degrees in Business Law and certifications in Judo coaching from Grenoble Alpes University in France. He balances his academic pursuits with his passion for judo, serving as a role model for aspiring athletes both on and off the mat.

Ndiaye's influence extends beyond his sporting achievements, as he remains committed to giving back to his community and inspiring the next generation of African judoka. He credits his parents as his heroes, acknowledging their unwavering support and encouragement throughout his journey.

Looking ahead, Ndiaye's aspirations include continuing to represent Senegal with dignity on the international stage and serving as a role model for African youth.
