Hedvig Karakas is one of the finest Hungarian judoka who won bronze at the Grand Slam Tokyo in 2015. She became European Champion in 2020 in Prague. As World Junior Champion, Karakas won bronze at the 2009 World Championships and was fifth at the 2012 Olympic Games, and was seventh in Rio and seventh at the 2015 Worlds. She claimed the gold medals at the Grand Prix in Astana (2014) and Tashkent (2019) and won 27 IJF World Tour medals in total including IJF Masters, Grand Slam medals in Paris and Tokyo. She made her comeback in 2022 at the Grand Slam in Tel Aviv in her new category U63kg.
