Nemanja Majdov became World Champion U90kg in Budapest in 2017. Coming from a true judo family he judo for Bosnia and Herzegovina, but since 2013 for Serbia. He is a dedicated sportsman, who won the European Junior title in 2014 in Bucharest and in 2016 in Malaga. Majdov won EC Cadet silver in 2013. He is younger brother of Stefan Majdov. He took bronze at the Grand Slam in Abu Dhabi in 2016 U90kg. He took a bronze medal at the Grand Prix in Cancun in 2017, but his world title was a great stunt.

Serbia started the day with their greatest opportunity to realise their dream of crowning a world judo champion but instead of world number one Aleksandar Kukolj it was a 21-year-old Worlds debutant who ruled the sport. Spanish Nikoloz Sherazadishvili recorded the best result of his young career as he defeated Bucharest European Open winner Tural Safguliyev (AZE) in the U90kg final to claim his first Grand Prix gold medal. Abu Dhabi Grand Slam bronze medallist Safguliyev, 26, led by a waza-ari before Tbilisi-born Sherazadishvili pulled level with a waza-ari score of his own on the edge of the area and pinned down the Azeri with a modified yoko-shiho-gatame for ippon. Promising teams battle at European Club Championships in Belgrade

The European Club Championships promise to be a competitive competition on Saturday in Belgrade, Serbia. 29 Teams have registered from twelve nations. In total 14 teams for the women’s event and 18 for the men’s event, including some teams with both men’s and women’s participants. It’s the first time since ever that Serbia is organizing a European Club Championship. In 2006 the European Team Championships were held in Belgrade. Read more
