Dutchman Jaap Nauwelaerts D’ Age founded the EJU in 1948. Nauwelaaerts contributed to the development of judo as athlete, coach, referee and board member in many functions and was one of the founders of the Dutch Judo Assocation. In 2008 awarded 10th Dan and was given the IJF Award in 2011.
