Akinobu Osako of Japan was 1988 Olympic bronze medallist in Seoul U86kg. Now IJF top referee who officiated at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio and 2012 London Games. He refereed at every edition of the world championships from 2010-2015. He serves as vice chairman of the referee commission for the All Japan Judo Federation. As judoka he took silver at the Tournoi de Paris in 1986 and was All Japan champion in 1988 and 1989. He won many medals at the Kodokan Cup in Tokyo.
