Miriam Blasco was the first female gold medallist ever for Spain, was elected for the Spanish Parliament in Madrid. Blasco had won in 1992 at the Barcelona Olympics judo U56kg category against Nicola Fairbrother from Great Britain. Later they formed a couple and got married in 2016 after beging together for over 20 years. Blasco has an own club in Alicante. She won the Tournoi de Paris in 1992. She triumped at the German Open World Masters in 1991.
