Triple European Champion Kim Polling is World #1 since May 2013. She won various different Grand Slams. Was World and European Junior Champion in 2010. Polling won bronze at the World Championships in 2013. Polling won the IJF World Masters in 2014, 2015 and 2016. She took gold at the 2016 Grand Prix Tbilisi. Triple Dutch senior champion.

Dutch team with Grol and Polling full of World medal potential

The Dutch team for the World Championships in Budapest includes a little surprise. Triple World Championships runner-up Henk Grol was not very sure how to proceed after the Olympic Games; most likely he would start +100kg. His last matchday was at 11 August 2016 when he couldn’t overcome Cyrille Maret. Now it appears that Grol will make his comeback in Budapest, fighting U100kg. IJF awards 14 World leaders 50,000 USD each

The International Judo Federation has awarded all 14 judoka who ended 2016 as the world number ones with an extra $50,000 each in prize money. Seven male judoka and seven female judoka received the cash windfall as 10 countries were represented at the top of the final world ranking list for 2016. Read more

Dutch Abu Dhabi winner Juul Franssen in difficult situation

At her birthday Juul Franssen is in one of the most difficult situation of her sporting career. The 27-year old winner of the Grand Slam of Abu Dhabi in 2016 can't compete anymore sanctioned by the Dutch Judo Association. Her new car and her salary was taken away with immediate effect by the National Olympic Committee. Welcome in 2017...new rules. Read more

Year overview of the World Leading women judoka of 2016

Three European athletes, two Asian and two Pan American athletes are leading the last World Ranking of the year, what was called the IJF Prestige ranking. Mongolia is the most dominant nation in the world ranking for women with two leading positions. Former Mongolian, now Kazakh judoka Otgontsetseg Galbadrakh won the most prize money, $15,500 of which 20% went to her coach. Read more

Dutch judoka Polling and Van 't End consider a switch abroad

The Dutch Judo Association has changed its training model since September this year. In the past all athletes trained at their clubs and once or twice per week a national central training. Since September the Dutch Olympic Committee training centre Papendal is the place to train and live. Not coming to the new central training means, no selections for international tournaments. The eleven Dutch judoka claimed just one medal, by Anicka van Emden. Read more
