For the first time three Korean World Ranking leaders

Seven athletes from Asia lead the World Ranking since this weekend’s Paris Grand Slam, followed by 6 Europeans and Kayla Harrison for Pan America. Exactly one year ago 3 Asians led, 2 Pan American athletes and 9 Europeans. What a change in one year time. Not any Korean judoka led the world ranking, now three men and the women are approaching rapidly. Since the start of the World Ranking in 2009 Korea didn’t have three leaders. Read more


Asian athletes do not even surprise with 9 titles in Paris

Japan topped the medal table once again in Paris as they won five gold medals, two silver and two bronze ahead of South Korea who shone with three gold and four bronze medals while hosts France won two gold medals, one silver and six bronze. On Sunday Asia added another four gold medals to Saturday's five. Europe doubled two on Sunday and Pan America claimed gold U78kg their strongest category. Read more


Harasawa Hisayoshi challenges Teddy Riner in the road to Rio

Japanese judoka Harasawa Hisayoshi remains undefeated and with his second consecutive gold medal at the Grand Slam in Paris, he may be the one to challenge Teddy Riner at the Olympic Games in Rio. Harasawa is the only man in the World Ranking top 10 who hasn’t fought, and thus hasn’t lost to Teddy Riner. Read more
