Harrison reaches final in Jeju with dislocated shoulder

Kayla Harrison dislocated her shoulder at the Grand Prix of Jeju. The American Olympic Champion got hurt in her first match against Lee Jeong-Yun of Korea, but it popped back in later. Harrison still fought the next matches and won against Lkhamdegd Purevjargal and defeated Olympic runner-up Gemma Gibbons in the semi final. Read more

IJF World Judo Tour newcomer Sato Seidai of Japanmade a riveting start to life on the world circuit as the 21-year old beat Olympic medallists on his way to U81kg gold. The Japanese youngster beat Baku Grand Slam winner Khasan Khalmurzaev of Russia in his sixth fight of the day and started as he meant to go on by registering a yuko. Sato added a second from a drop seoi-nage and concluded a breathless performance by ippon to leave Khalmurzaev in awe of his conqueror. Read more

Elite surprised by Japanese Sato Saidai in Jeju

So you take a random junior from Japan to Jeju, and he takes the victory. Clearly Sato Seidai wasn’t just a pick by Keiji Suzuki. The winner of the weight category U81kg, stunned some of the arrived names such as Attila Ungvari, Wang Ki-Chun (how about that), Joachim Bottieau, the winner of the GP Düsseldorf, Lee Sung-Ho and in the final Khasan Khalmurzaev.
